Patchwork Petals on the Heritage Trail Quilt Gardens
Intricate quilts are beautiful creations, but the pretty patterns are even more impressive with flowers.
The quilt gardens along the Heritage Trail in Elkhart County offer more than a million vibrant blooms in patchwork-inspired designs. Nineteen gardens and murals in seven communities tell unique stories, linked by the roads that form the Heritage Trail.
This year, the quilt gardens are getting in on the Bicentennial action, celebrating Indiana’s 200th birthday. Each of the gardens, averaging 1,200 square feet in size, will display patterns that represent various periods in the state’s history, with an accompanying story.
Free garden viewing is guaranteed May 30 through Oct. 1. For more information, visit amishcountry.org.
