My husband & I watched the PBS program today & this pie looked wonderful. We can’t wait to try it! It sounds very similar to Buttermilk Pie, so I’m curious about comparing the two. I backed up the program to watch the Nick’s part again so that I could write down his recipe for 2 pies. Thanks for publishing the recipe so that I can just make 1 pie the first time!

The Buttermilk pie I make has lemon in it, so it’s a different flavor profile.

It was a delight to see Mason make a double batch of this famous Sugar Cream Pie. I’ve never had it before and look forward to a new tradition. The PBS special was a great show. Congratulations on being chosen for the first of the series.

This is by far the BEST and EASIEST sugar cream pie ever! My mom sent me the magazine, to Montana where I live, and my husband ate 1/2 of the pie in one sitting. He said he went into a sugar coma. Absolutely delicious! Will make for years to come 🙂

I am so excited, my grandmother made this for me growing up, she did not have a recipe and no one in our family knew how to make it. I have been looking for 30 yrs for this pie! I have attempted to make this recipe which I thank you for, but would love to make a trip to Indiana for a bite in your kitchen. Thanks so much for giving me the most wonderful memories.

sometimes the cooktime is longer. My wife has made quite a few of these pies she has modified it to make it more her own but she always uses whole milk if you use anything else it does not turn out right i hope this helps.

Made this pie over the weekend and it was a hit with my family. I didn’t change a thing and I loved the crust coating from the sugar/cinnamon mix. I made the mistake of not using deep dish pie crust. I went out to buy more crust to finish off the batter. This recipe is a keeper for me!

Does anyone know if this recipe will turn out well using a graham cracker pie crust?

I currently live in Huntington, Indiana and I can say that Nicks pie is hands down the best. Trying this recipe out on my own tonight, hopefully it’s just as good as the original.
